Jesse Light is the President of SML – Consulting Structural & Forensic Engineers, based in Phoenix, Arizona. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Cal Poly Pomona (2001) and is a licensed Structural and Civil Engineer in 36 states.
Jesse’s dual background in mechanical and structural engineering allows him to uniquely bridge material science, system optimization, product manufacturing, prototyping, and building design. This multidisciplinary expertise has fostered close collaborations with manufacturers of both building-applied and stand-alone structural components; all developed in full compliance with current building codes.
Under his leadership, SML has embraced the integration of AI tools and custom software workflows to streamline internal processes. By aligning engineering analysis with application and design tools, Jesse has increased both productivity and precision across the firm—delivering measurable reductions in material usage, transportation costs, and engineering time for clients nationwide.
